Typhoon Wipha Made Landfall on the Guangdong Coast on the 20th, Moves Toward Vietnam

Typhoon 'Wipha' made landfall along the coast of Taishan City, Guangdong Province, China at around 5:50 PM on the 20th. After landfall, 'Wipha' weakened from typhoon level to severe tropical storm level. By 6:00 PM, its center was located within Taishan City, Guangdong Province.

From the afternoon to night of the 20th, 'Wipha' made landfall along the coast between Zhuhai and Zhanjiang in Guangdong, with winds reaching force 13 to 14. It swept from east to west across the western coast of Guangdong and is forecast to move into the Beibu Gulf during the day on Monday, then head towards the northeastern coast of Vietnam.

All Typhoon Signals Cancelled in Hong Kong

After 'Wipha' passed by Hong Kong on the 20th, the Hong Kong Observatory cancelled all typhoon signals on the morning of the 21st.

According to HK01, at 5:10 AM on the 21st, the Hong Kong Observatory cancelled all typhoon signals and said that as 'Wipha' continues to move away from Hong Kong, local wind strength will gradually weaken.

Vietnam Coastal Areas Enter Emergency State

As 'Wipha' approaches Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has declared a state of emergency for the coastal provinces, warning that the typhoon may trigger floods and landslides.

Foreign media reports that Typhoon 'Wipha' is expected to make landfall in the early hours of the 22nd, and all airlines have already canceled flights.

The storm is expected to cross the coastline between Quang Ninh and Ninh Binh provinces in northern Vietnam. The Vietnam National Meteorological Bureau said the typhoon will bring heavy rain, potentially causing dangerous flooding and landslides.
