Yang Mi and Dilraba Reverse Fate with Backlogged Dramas, Wash Off 'Below Standard' Stigma

Chinese actress Yang Mi's acting career has suffered a series of setbacks in recent years, but finally a ray of hope has appeared. The drama she stars in, "Sheng Wanwu" (Life of All Things), has been specially recommended by CCTV and will be broadcast during the prime summer slot. Her good friend, Dilraba Dilmurat, faced similar allegations of her new drama being 'below standard' and waited two years without an air date, but now her work, too, is receiving priority recommendation from CCTV—both actresses are dispelling their former frustrations!
Yang Mi's fortunes have not been favorable of late. Last year, her dramas "Harbin 1944" and "Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Yuehong Chapter," together with the film "There's Nothing That Can't Be Solved By a Hot Pot Meal," received a flood of negative reviews. Especially, the latter movie was pulled from theaters after just five days—an extreme blow! But recently, things are looking up. Two films she appears in, "Jiangyuan Lane: The Suspenseful Case" and "The Lychees of Chang'an," will be released during the summer season. In addition, at the recent CCTV "2025 Summer Audio-Visual Carnival", the drama "Sheng Wanwu" starring Yang Mi was specifically named as a highlight. Previously, rumors had it that the drama would premiere in March this year, but it allegedly failed to air as scheduled due to quality concerns. Now, being promoted by CCTV for a prime time slot is a direct recognition and likely to help her pull out of her slump.
In addition to "Sheng Wanwu," Yang Mi's friend Dilraba Dilmurat's drama "Lijian Meigui" (Sword Rose) is also on the summer prime time list. Since "The Legend of Anle" in 2023, Dilraba has had no new dramas released. After filming wrapped up on "Lijian Meigui" in July two years ago, there were repeated rumors of a set air date, but just like Yang Mi, the drama was said to be 'below standard' and failed to materialize. This time, being recognized by CCTV is a form of justice for Dilraba. In "Lijian Meigui," she sheds her previous 'sweet girl' image, appearing barefaced as a law enforcement officer waging a battle of wits and strength against criminals—a role viewed as her transformation.
