Ella Buys Copyrights for 15 S.H.E Songs, Manufacturers Still Concerned

After leaving the girl group "S.H.E" to pursue a solo career, Ella (Chen Jiahua) has shifted her focus to acting and singing. At the end of last year, she launched her solo concert tour "It’s Me Ella Idea," with a setlist that included classic songs from her S.H.E days. This sparked fans' curiosity about whether there was hope for a reunion with Hebe and Selina. According to reports, Ella purchased the lyrics and composition copyrights for 15 songs from her former label "HIM International Music," simply to recreate those classic moments, but did not buy the rights to reproduce or rearrange the songs.

According to Mirror Media, Ella’s solo tour setlist featured as many as 15 songs from the S.H.E era, including signature tracks such as "Super Star," "Tropical Rain Forest," and "Beautiful New World." Since Hebe and Selina’s voices can still be heard in the background music, this has made some manufacturers uneasy. It’s reported that Ella only acquired the lyrics and composition copyrights for 15 songs from "HIM International Music," but did not purchase the rights for rearrangements, meaning she cannot re-arrange the songs. Although this was mainly meant for fans to relive those classics, there’s also a suggestion that it was to save money, since performing Hebe and Selina’s vocals publicly on stage also requires their personal consent. However, given the strong friendship among the three, it is expected to be a minor concern.

As for the cost of copyright for the 15 songs, it is reported that there isn’t a fixed price, but considering Ella’s long-standing relationship with "HIM International Music," the price should be reasonable. Previously, when "Mayday" invited Ella as a guest for their tour and they performed "Mayday" together, the music video was taken down due to unresolved copyright issues. It wasn’t until terms were agreed upon with "HIM International Music" that the video was put back online. Rumors had it that the song cost 2 million RMB (about 1.16 million MYR), but lead singer Ashin said it wasn’t that exaggerated.
