21-year-old male singer D4vd (real name David Anthony Burke) from Houston, Texas, rose to fame at a young age and has over 20 million listeners on Spotify. However, he recently became embroiled in a missing girl homicide case. He is charged with first-degree murder, but pleaded not guilty in court and is currently being held without bail.
According to the BBC, a 14-year-old girl, Celeste Rivas Hernandez, went missing after heading to D4vd's residence in Hollywood Hills on April 23 last year. In September of the same year, police found her body in severe decomposition and dismembered inside a Tesla at a Hollywood tow yard. Upon investigation, the vehicle was registered under D4vd's name, making him a prime suspect.
At a press conference on the 20th, the Los Angeles County District Attorney accused D4vd of first-degree murder, economic-motive murder, and killing a witness, among other serious charges—not ruling out seeking the death penalty in the future. In addition, D4vd faces accusations involving the sexual assault of a minor, destruction of a corpse, and other allegations. D4vd’s defense attorneys deny any wrongdoing and say they will vigorously defend his innocence, while the victim’s family, through their lawyers, stated they will defend the dignity of the victim in the judicial process.
