According to Thai media reports, on March 9th, in the Chang Khlan district of Chiang Mai, Thailand, a Burmese man threatened a 14-year-old girl with a knife and raped her.
The local Thai police stated that they received a report that around 6:00 PM on March 9th, at a residence on Sai Lom Kwai Alley, Kyaung Phatthit Road, in the Chang Khlan district of Chiang Mai, a girl was brutally raped.
It is reported that the girl, aged 14, is a Burmese national. At the time, her mother was out, and a man broke into the house, threatened her with a knife, and raped her.
The police reviewed surveillance footage and found a man wearing a dark blue T-shirt and black pants, holding a knife. The police then dispersed the crowd and searched the area. Around 9:00 PM, they discovered the suspect hiding in the grass behind an abandoned old house by the roadside. He was wearing the same clothes as during the crime.
When police tried to arrest him, the man fell and hit his head on a rock, resulting in a minor injury near his right eye.
According to the investigation, the perpetrator is a 33-year-old Myanmar national named 'Yusu'. He had previously worked near the victim's home and had tried several times to approach the girl before leaving for another job. He admitted that on the day of the incident, he took the opportunity while the girl was home alone to break in and commit the crime.
Thai officials stated that Yusu will be charged with illegal intrusion, armed robbery, and the rape of a minor girl, and will face legal proceedings.
