(Miri, 24th) Sarawak Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin pointed out that sports not only strengthen the body but also serve as a form of spiritual cultivation, cultivating the discipline and team spirit of athletes. Fencing, in particular, requires competitors to think quickly and respond decisively in matches, making it an excellent platform for training tactical thinking and psychological resilience.
The "2025 Sarawak Junior (U17) Fencing Championship," organized by the Sarawak Fencing Association, was grandly held today, with Sarawak Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin invited to officiate the opening and awards ceremony.
In his speech, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin expressed gratitude for the invitation from the Sarawak Fencing Association and welcomed the teams from both domestic and international locations. He stated that such events not only promote the development of fencing in Sarawak but also enhance its status on the international stage. "This reflects our enthusiasm for the sport of fencing and our efforts to establish it as a top-tier sport in the country."
"I hope young competitors from all over the country cherish this opportunity not only to bring glory to their states or clubs but also to aim for entry into the national team, striving to showcase their talents at the Southeast Asian Games held in three major cities in Thailand (Bangkok metropolitan area, Chonburi Province, and Songkhla Province) from December 9 to 20, 2025, and the Southeast Asian Games hosted by Malaysia in 2027."
He emphasized that this event is an important platform for the country in nurturing athletes with international potential. He also believes that events like this can further discover and cultivate more competitive young fencers.
