Selangor Menteri Besar Leads Major Enforcement Operation: 1,116 Checked, 843 Illegal Immigrants Arrested

(Selangor, 7th) Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin personally led various enforcement agencies in a major operation in Selayang Baru on Saturday night, inspecting 1,116 people and arresting 843 illegal immigrants who were detained for further investigation for violating multiple immigration regulations.

Amirudin, who is also the Chairman of the Selangor National Security Council (MKN), stated at a press conference after the operation that a total of 358 personnel from various enforcement units, including the Immigration Department, National Registration Department, police, and National Anti-Drug Agency, were involved in this operation.

"We checked 1,116 people, of which 273 were released after further investigation. The operation also detained two locals suspected of drug use."

He pointed out that this joint operation not only focused on cracking down on illegal immigrants, but also investigated other various violations, including foreign workers who often appear at local markets.

"Due to the influx of large numbers of foreigners and the fact that their activities have caused concern among local residents, Selayang Baru was identified as a hotspot area."

He explained that although the local government has received various complaints, enforcement actions involving arrests are subject to certain jurisdictional restrictions and require cooperation among relevant agencies.

"In any case, the Selangor state government is committed to controlling the influx of foreigners and ensuring their status in Selangor complies with established regulations and laws."
