The Thai Ministry of Tourism stated that the armed conflict on the Thai-Cambodian border is happening in remote border areas, far from major tourist cities, and therefore its overall impact on the tourism market is expected to be limited.
Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong said on the 24th that, at present, neither international nor domestic tourists’ enthusiasm for travel has been significantly affected.
He stated that, in response to the border conflict, the government has continuously issued safety warnings to Thai citizens and foreign tourists, and has instructed local tourism offices to take necessary countermeasures.
Although initial assessments indicate a limited impact, Sorawong stated that the Ministry of Tourism and Sports will continue to closely monitor the situation and adjust response strategies according to actual circumstances to fully ensure the safety of tourists.
In addition, Sorawong said that the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Tourism Authority of Thailand are continuously launching a variety of promotional tourism initiatives to further boost foreign tourists’ confidence in traveling to Thailand.
