According to Philippine media reports on the 8th, the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck southern Philippines has caused at least 5 deaths and the collapse of multiple buildings. Several tsunami monitoring stations have detected waves about 1 meter high.

Affected by this earthquake, the Japan Meteorological Agency has issued tsunami warnings for the coasts of Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and the Okinawa Islands. The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics has also issued tsunami warnings for the northeastern coastal areas of Indonesia on the same day.
