Japanese famous conveyor belt sushi chain HAMA was recently hit by a shocking prank, where a branch in the country was targeted by someone pouring dishwashing liquid on sushi, sparking outrage among internet users.

According to information currently going viral on X, the prankster can be seen at a HAMA Sushi conveyor belt, pouring Kao dishwashing liquid onto a plate of sushi, then taking the entire plate down. It is unclear what he did with it afterwards. The camera also shows several bottles of soy sauce on the table, confirming it is indeed HAMA Sushi, though which location in Japan remains unknown.

It is reported that the man first uploaded the video to his own TikTok account. Although it has since been deleted, backup copies of the video are still circulating on other social media platforms.

Japanese netizens have slammed this as outright criminal behavior, recalling past incidents where Sushiro and Kura Sushi were pranked, and calling for HAMA Sushi to investigate.

Afterwards, many people looked into the account and discovered that the man frequently pranks food. He had previously poured instant noodles and natto on his own head, scooping up rice to eat afterwards. He is also seen using milk to wash his hair or throwing food on the floor and stomping on it. Some netizens question his mental health and hope that relevant authorities intervene.

● Company: Zero Tolerance

In response to the food safety controversy, a HAMA Sushi spokesperson stated that such behavior could pose health risks to other customers and has already destroyed the sense of dining security. The company expressed zero tolerance for such egregious acts and is currently investigating which branch was affected, vowing to thoroughly pursue the matter and not ruling out filing a police report or lawsuit.

Kao responded that the packaging does appear to resemble one of their products, and reminded the public that if dish soap is accidentally ingested, they should not try to induce vomiting, but instead rinse their mouth, drink water, and seek medical attention as soon as possible.
