(Sibu Jaya, 3rd) The road and village hall upgrading projects at Kampung Kesindu have been successfully implemented as part of ongoing efforts to improve rural infrastructure and enhance residents' quality of life.
Minister of Utility and Telecommunication cum Sibu Jaya State Assemblyman, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, stated that the Kampung Kesindu road upgrading project was allocated RM200,000, while the village hall upgrading received an allocation of RM435,000.
He said, “Providing and improving basic amenities such as roads and community halls reflects the Sarawak government's continuing commitment to enhance the well-being of the people, especially to raise the quality of life of rural residents.”
He made these remarks at the officiating ceremony for the above projects on Wednesday (July 1st).
Julaihi pointed out that more comfortable and higher-quality facilities not only make daily activities more convenient for residents, but also help promote various community activities and stimulate local socio-economic development.
He also hopes that the upgraded facilities will be fully utilized and well maintained by residents, ensuring long-term benefits.
Subsequently, he attended the 'Ngiling Bidai' celebration in Kampung Kesindu with residents, emphasizing that safeguarding unity and preserving customs and cultural heritage are of great significance to Sarawak's multicultural identity.
He said celebrations like this not only mark the end of the harvest festival season, but also help strengthen family bonds, promote neighborly relations, and foster community harmony.
Before the official launch, an interwoven ketupat competition participated by women was held, showcasing the traditional skills passed down through generations while also promoting a spirit of cooperation and connection among residents.
The event further heated up with cultural performances and interactive community sessions, receiving enthusiastic participation from attendees.
