A shocking suicide tragedy occurred at an Olive Garden chain restaurant in Pennsylvania, USA. Last Friday afternoon, a chef suddenly stripped naked in the restaurant kitchen and, in full view of others, plunged his head into a deep fryer filled with boiling oil. Despite several colleagues and customers rushing forward to try and stop him, their attempts were ultimately unsuccessful. Initial police investigations indicate the incident was a suicide, with details still under investigation.
According to reports from the Daily Mail and others, the incident took place at the Williamsport branch of Olive Garden. Media quoting 911 call center audio revealed that, at around 4 p.m. that afternoon, police received an emergency call. The dispatcher, in a grave tone, told officers, "There is a burn victim at the Olive Garden restaurant, details unknown, there is a lot of screaming at the scene." Another dispatch message later revealed the horrifying details: "A male victim has plunged his head down into the deep fryer."
It is understood that before plunging into the boiling oil, the man—whose identity remains unknown—had removed his clothes in the kitchen. Several employees at the scene, as well as at least one customer, immediately rushed forward in a desperate attempt to stop him. Amidst the commotion, a female employee sustained minor injuries and required treatment at a hospital. However, the chef’s injuries were extremely severe, and he was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.
A spokesperson for the Pennsylvania police later confirmed the incident was a "suicide attempt," but, out of respect for the deceased and the family, declined to provide further personal information. Due to the incident, the restaurant was temporarily closed for several days but has since reopened. Olive Garden’s parent company and related parties have not yet commented further on this extreme incident.
