The Indonesian government has airdropped over 500,000 tons of relief supplies, including food, medicines, tents, blankets, and other basic necessities, to disaster-affected areas on Sumatra Island.

On the 3rd, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Muhadjir Pratikno stated at a press conference that the government is making every effort to advance rescue operations, distribution of supplies, and repair of infrastructure in disaster zones. The flood and landslide disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra provinces have been designated as top national priorities.

According to data from Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency, the flooding in Sumatra Island has caused at least 770 deaths and 463 people missing. President Prabowo has demanded all ministries to improve response speed and ensure uninterrupted relief efforts, supply distribution, and public services.

Pratikno stated that after the disaster, landslides blocked many roads and some areas temporarily lost contact with the outside world. To ensure timely delivery of essential supplies, several large military transport planes have conducted air drop missions; over 50 helicopters are being used to transport relief personnel and emergency supplies to remote mountainous areas; the navy has dispatched transport vessels to resupply via sea routes; and the army has mobilized troops closest to the disaster zones to participate in the rescue.

Meanwhile, relevant Indonesian departments report that infrastructure restoration is also being carried out concurrently. The power sector is striving to quickly restore damaged lines; the telecommunications sector is speeding up repairs of damaged base stations and main communication lines, and networks in some areas have gradually been restored. The state oil company is continuously supplying fuel to disaster areas by land to ensure the operation of power generation, communications, and rescue vehicles.

At the same time, the Indonesian government has begun early post-disaster reconstruction efforts. Relevant departments have launched "100-day targets" and a one-year reconstruction planning framework, covering restoration of housing, roads, bridges, and public service facilities.
