Jho Low Reportedly Holds Fake Australian Passport, Living in Luxury Residence in Shanghai

(Kuala Lumpur/Shanghai, 20th) Jho Low, a key fugitive figure in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) corruption case, has again been reported hiding in China, living a lavish lifestyle in Shanghai with a fake passport.
Tom Wright and Bradley Hope, former Wall Street Journal reporters who exposed the 1MDB scandal, uploaded a video on YouTube on Friday (July 18) stating that Jho Low is using a forged Australian passport under the Greek name "Veis Constantinos Achilles" to conceal his identity.
They said that, based on evidence collected from various sources and newly discovered documents, Jho Low is currently living in a high-end community in Shanghai, just a 15-minute drive from his office in the Shanghai financial center.
The pair claim that Jho Low is now serving as an adviser, assisting some sanctioned Chinese companies in maintaining their global business operations.
Tom Wright and Bradley Hope have worked together for many years investigating the 1MDB case, and have repeatedly alleged that Jho Low is hiding in China, even posting photos allegedly showing his life in China on social media. However, these reports have not been confirmed, and China has repeatedly denied sheltering Jho Low.
Jho Low, who is closely connected with Malaysia's former Prime Minister Najib, is believed to be the mastermind behind the 1MDB case, orchestrating the formation of a joint venture between 1MDB and Saudi International Petroleum, and allegedly funneling US$700 million (about S$900 million) into his own company. He is also accused of embezzling 1MDB funds to purchase overseas properties and famous artworks, leading a life of luxury.
After the Barisan Nasional’s defeat in Malaysia's 2018 general election, Jho Low fled overseas. During this period, there have been continuous reports claiming he is hiding in China, but the Malaysian government and police have not been able to confirm his whereabouts. Interpol has issued a red notice for him, and he is currently wanted for arrest in Malaysia, the United States, Singapore and 195 other countries.
