(Miri, 2nd) Having ventured to Beijing, China for the 2025 CCTV "Colorful Planet" ASEAN International Talent Competition, outstanding Pei Chung student Lin Jiayu clinched the gold award with unstoppable momentum, returning home with honor.
This competition, held in August this year, was open to participants from around the world. Lin Jiayu stood out, winning the top prize with the song "If You Dare, I Dare," outshining other singers from various countries. The prestigious award certificate was recently mailed to Lin Jiayu in Miri.
Pei Chung principal Beh Meijiao stated that it is never easy for students to win medals on the international stage. To cross regional, cultural, and skill gaps and compete with outstanding contestants from all over the world requires not only talent, but also courage and constantly honed strength. That a student from the school could win gold at such a high-level international competition sufficiently proves their ability to connect with the world, and once again showcases the remarkable talent of the school’s students.
She added that many Pei Chung students have won awards repeatedly in recent years, which is the result of the school’s educational philosophy of “stepping out of campus, looking to the world.” They encourage students to participate in international competitions, enabling them to test their talents, boost their confidence, and learn from other outstanding participants through real competition and exchange.
She believes that education is not just about imparting knowledge in the classroom, but providing students with a broader stage for life. Lin Jiayu’s performance today is the strongest proof of this philosophy.
Beh Meijiao expressed her gratitude to the dedicated teachers for their long-term guidance, whose professional training and encouragement led to the students’ outstanding achievements today. She also thanked the parents for their support, being the strong backing for students on their path to pursue their dreams.
She said that the school is proud of this international gold award, and aims for even more international accomplishments in the future. She hopes this honor will inspire more students, allowing the school to continue shining on the international stage.
