On the 4th, U.S. President Trump signed a proclamation to restrict visas for international students at Harvard University in the name of national security, suspending the entry of foreign nationals who are studying or participating in exchange programs at Harvard University.
Trump stated that he is still waiting for Harvard University to provide a list of foreign students in order to determine how many students should not be allowed to enter the United States.
He said, “I want to ensure that international students are people who love our country.”
The White House pointed out that the proclamation suspends the entry of any Harvard University freshman holding F, M, or J visas into the U.S. and instructs the Secretary of State to consider revoking the existing visas of Harvard students who meet the criteria of the proclamation.
Due to Harvard University's failure to provide the Department of Homeland Security with information on foreign students engaging in illegal or dangerous activities, the Trump administration considers Harvard University no longer a trustworthy manager of international student and exchange visitor programs.
