(Kuching, 23rd) Semiconductor company X-FAB Sarawak Sdn Bhd has been awarded the highest honor of the “Premier’s Digital Economy Award,” with the award ceremony held last night at the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak 2025 (IDECS25) gala dinner.
This honor grants X-FAB a special trophy and a fully sponsored opportunity to visit the 2026 Mobile World Congress (MWC), which will be held from March 2nd to 5th next year at Fira Gran Via, Barcelona, Spain.
Sarawak’s Minister for Utility and Telecommunication and IDECS25 event head, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, stated that this award is not only a recognition of the contributions made by all parties in driving Sarawak’s digital economy forward, but also showcases Sarawak’s maturity and progress in the fields of innovation and green technology.
“Being invited to the Mobile World Congress is not only international recognition; it is also a golden opportunity for Sarawak to showcase the innovation and technological achievements developed in the state through government initiatives,” he said during his speech at the event.
The award was personally presented by Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Besides X-FAB, five other entities were also recognized across six categories in the 2025 Sarawak Digital Economy Awards.
The list of winners is as follows:
· Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) — Research, Development and Commercialisation Award;
· Sarawak Land and Survey Department — Digital Government Award;
· Ensera Creatives — Digital Creative Content Award;
· Sarawak Forestry Department — Environmental Sustainability Award;
· Mukah Resident’s Office — Digital Leadership Award.
Julaihi Narawi emphasized that strengthening digital infrastructure and nurturing local professional talent will remain key focus areas for the Sarawak government in its aim to make Sarawak a leading state in digital and green economy within the ASEAN region.
“We hope to show the world that Sarawak is not just a user of technology, but also a leader in sustainable digital solutions and renewable energy solutions,” he said.
