Next General Election to Continue Using BN Logo Zahid: Will Still Cooperate With Other Parties

UMNO President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi reiterated that Barisan Nasional (BN) will continue to use the BN logo to contest in the 16th General Election.

He stated that although BN will adhere to the traditional logo, it will still cooperate with other political parties in the election.

“We will use the BN logo, but will still work with other parties. This is what UMNO and the BN component members expect.

“MCA and MIC will likewise use the BN logo, although there might be some noise during the process.

“As long as the component parties’ top leadership has not officially made a decision through the central committee, we will regard the related comments as personal opinions.

“I believe this cooperation will yield good results.”

Ahmad Zahid made these remarks during his keynote speech at the “6th BN Forum: The Future of Political Party Collaboration in Malaysia.” The event was held on Wednesday at UMNO headquarters.

As BN chairman, Ahmad Zahid also spoke about the recent by-elections, describing these victories as bringing new hope for BN.

He said BN had successfully recaptured several state seats from opposition parties, and also defended its existing seats with higher majorities.

“We are confident that in the next general election, we will once again lead the way. We know that among the 18 parties currently forming the government, many were formed or facilitated by UMNO and BN.

“I told the Members of Parliament that the current political situation is the will of God. Now, UMNO/BN has become a partner in the ruling coalition, and this has been proven in several by-elections.

“We recaptured the Nenggiri state seat in Terengganu from PAS; defended Pelangai and Tioman in Pahang; and then in the Mangga seat, increased our majority from 5,000 to 20,000; in the Ayir Kuning seat, also raised our majority from 3,000 to more than 5,000 votes.”
