Directed by Malaysian director Teddy Chen Lik Chan, with Hong Kong star Carlos Chan (Wei Wei) serving as both screenwriter and lead actor, and joined by Teresa Mo, TV King Vincent Chiu, Bob Lam (Bob), and Malaysian actor Jack Lim, the Chinese New Year film 'Mom’s Getting Married Again' has recently wrapped shooting in Kuala Lumpur. This comedy, centered around the theme of 'stopping a wedding,' was shot over an intense 18-day schedule, and is set to meet audiences during the Lunar New Year period in 2026.

At the wrap-up party, Vincent Chiu admitted that it was a long-held dream to finally work with Bob and Wei Wei, but joked that the biggest challenge during filming was 'holding back laughter,' especially as he would burst out laughing the moment he saw Bob. Teresa Mo also named Bob as the 'biggest test,' saying that even if he didn’t say a word, everyone would be in stitches. This time, she plays the mother of Vincent Chiu and Bob, joking that 'my sons are about the same age as me,' which became a big comedic point for the role. She also highly praised the local child actors’ performances, saying they brought a lot of sparks to their scenes together.

Director Teddy Chen likened Teresa Mo’s dedication and commitment, saying that she nailed a touching scene in the first take, but insisted on pushing herself to achieve an even higher standard, ultimately delivering a 'perfect one-take' performance that moved him greatly. Vincent Chiu not only starred in the film, but also participated as an investor, expressing his gratitude for finally sharing the screen with longtime friends and describing it as a rare and thankful opportunity. He joked that every day on set was filled with unforgettable laughter and said he looks forward to audiences seeing their 'hilarious yet touching' performances in cinemas.

Carlos Chan, serving as screenwriter for the first time, poured his heart into this project, even selling his house to help fund the movie. He emphasized that although 'Mom’s Getting Married Again' isn’t a big-budget production, it’s certainly not a slapdash one, with family love and emotion at its core. He revealed that working closely with Vincent Chiu, Teresa Mo, and Bob led to many heartfelt moments, especially in Bob’s rarely-seen emotional scenes, which moved the entire cast on set.

Self-deprecating as the 'mood maker,' Bob modestly admitted that working with so many seasoned actors made him feel pressured, but the set atmosphere was joyful, with lots of improvisation that made filming a blast. He laughed that his most unforgettable memory was being forced to eat a plate of 'scary Hokkien mee,' after which he never dared touch it again.

'Mom’s Getting Married Again' brings together actors from Hong Kong and Malaysia, as well as a local production team. Director Teddy Chen believes the film will bring even more laughter and warmth to the next Chinese New Year season, and the release is locked for the 2026 Lunar New Year. Stay tuned!
