A tragedy has occurred at a well-known zoo in Bangkok, Thailand, where a zookeeper died of serious injuries after being attacked by a group of lions. The horrifying incident was witnessed in full by tourists.

According to The Thaiger, the incident happened at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the “Safari World” zoo in Bangkok. The zookeeper had just gotten off a vehicle when, unexpectedly, a lion quietly approached from about 10 meters away and suddenly pounced, knocking him down and biting him. Several other lions then joined in the attack.

Tourists on the scene screamed in terror—some pressed their horns repeatedly, others shouted loudly in hopes of driving the lions away, but it was to no avail. At first, some even mistook the lions for being friendly with the zookeeper, not realizing how quickly it would turn into a deadly attack.

According to hospital surgeons, the lions' attack lasted about 15 minutes before zoo staff intervened and ended the ordeal. The victim was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately died due to the severity of his injuries.

The zoo stated that staff responded quickly at the time of the incident, and they promised to fully cooperate with authorities to investigate why such an accident occurred despite existing safety protocols.

The management also expressed condolences to the victim’s family and emphasized they will review and strengthen current safety measures to prevent similar tragedies from happening again.
