Hollywood comedy actress Amy Schumer has officially announced the end of her marriage. Last Friday, she posted on social media confirming that she and her husband of seven years, celebrity chef Chris Fischer, have amicably split up—a piece of news that immediately drew public attention.
Amy shared a photo of the two riding the subway together, and wrote in the post, “Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We still love each other very much and will continue to focus on co-parenting our son together.” She also emphasized that this separation is a rational and friendly decision: “Everything is about love and respect. We will always be a family.”
She was once a curvy, marshmallow-like girl, but recently has slimmed down dramatically. In response to widespread rumors that the breakup is related to her weight loss success, Amy—true to her signature sense of humor—personally clarified the rumors. She said the breakup was “not because I lost a few kilos and thought I could look for someone else,” nor was it because her husband is a “handsome, award-winning celebrity chef.” She urged the public to respect their privacy, with her message still carrying her trademark self-deprecating and sarcastic tone.
Amy and Chris married in February 2018 in Malibu, California, and have kept a low profile throughout their marriage. Earlier this year, media reported she tried to sell the couple’s shared villa and had reduced the price several times, which at the time already sparked speculation.
