On the 12th, US President Trump ordered the Navy to immediately blockade the Strait of Hormuz, putting the already fragile ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran at grave risk. On the 13th, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that blockading the Strait of Hormuz does not serve the common interests of the international community. He stressed that achieving a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire through political and diplomatic means is the fundamental way to resolve the issue.

According to the official website of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi made these remarks in Beijing while meeting with Khaldoon, the UAE President’s Special Envoy to China, who was accompanying Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Khalid on his visit to China.

Wang Yi emphasized that China has always been actively committed to promoting peace and ending war, and is willing to work together with the international community, including the UAE, to help the Middle East return to peace and stability as soon as possible.

Trump’s Visit to China Postponed to May

Additionally, on the 13th, US President Trump stated that he had not yet had a conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, but that Xi hoped to see an end to the war in Iran.

Trump also confirmed that his trip to China would be postponed to next month.

According to Bloomberg, The Indian Forum, and other reports, Trump told reporters at the White House that he had not received any messages from Xi Jinping regarding the US-Iran conflict. However, he added that Xi “also hopes to see this conflict end,” and reiterated that the US and China maintain a “very good relationship.”
