Affected by the sharp drop in US stocks and Iran's missile launches at Israel, Asian stock markets plummeted in early trading on the 8th, while international oil prices rose simultaneously.

According to AFP reports, as of 9:53am local time (8:53am Malaysian time), Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell by 3.41% to 64,318.06 points; South Korea's KOSPI index plunged 6.81% to 7,604.98 points.

International benchmark Brent crude oil rose 2.4% to $95.32 a barrel; US West Texas Intermediate crude oil increased 2.3% to $92.59 a barrel.

On the 5th of this month, major indices on Wall Street tumbled across the board, mainly due to large-scale sell-offs of technology stocks previously boosted by the artificial intelligence (AI) investment boom.
