In the early hours of the 7th, the Indian military carried out airstrikes on at least six locations in Pakistani territory and the Pakistan-administered Kashmir region, prompting a Pakistani military response that resulted in the downing of five Indian Air Force jets.

In a televised address, Chaudhry, the Director General of Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations, pointed out that Indian Air Force jets launched missiles from Indian airspace into Pakistani territory, targeting six locations in Pakistan's Eastern Punjab region—Bahawalpur, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, and Shakargarh—as well as the capital of the Pakistan-controlled Kashmir region, Muzaffarabad, and the Godari area. The attacks damaged multiple mosques and resulted in the deaths of at least eight civilians, including one child, with 35 others injured and two missing.

Pakistan's Minister of Defense, Asif, stated that the Pakistani Air Force, in its counterstrike against Indian forces, shot down five Indian Air Force jets.

Subsequently, Pakistan's Civil Aviation and Security Department issued an emergency notice announcing the temporary closure of its airspace for 48 hours, resulting in the immediate closure of major international airports in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi. All flights at Islamabad International Airport were canceled, and some incoming flights had already been diverted.

The government of Punjab province also announced the closure of all educational institutions on the 7th.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz strongly condemned India's airstrike actions against Pakistan, stating that "Pakistan has the full right to respond to India's acts of war."

On the other hand, according to a report by the "Times of India" citing Indian military sources, India launched a "major military operation" on the 7th, targeting nine "terror infrastructure" sites within Pakistan.

According to the Indian Ministry of Defense, the military operation was "targeted, cautious, and will not escalate."
