(Miri, 7th) Even though Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Minister of Transportation of Sarawak and Assembly Member of Senadin, is overseas for official business, he specially delegated representative Jeffery Phang to attend the event this afternoon to cheer for the Sarawak Kuching City FC-Miri team. He hopes that the players will be more motivated and perform better when facing the Penang FC II team.

The match attracted a large number of football enthusiasts to watch, and the atmosphere was lively with the audience passionately cheering on the players from both teams.

This match is organized by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), with full cooperation from the Miri Football Association and Kuching City FC-Miri team. As a significant local youth football event, the "President's Cup" not only provides a platform for young players to showcase their skills but also allows them to gain practical experience and promote the development of football.

Jeffery Phang, representing Lee Kim Shin, stated in an interview that although the minister could not be present in person, he continues to give high attention and support to local football development. He highly appreciates the players' hard training and full dedication, and believes that this team will surely bring glory to Sarawak football in the future.

He said he hopes similar events can be hosted more frequently in the future and promote exchanges and cooperation with teams domestically and internationally. This will not only provide young players with opportunities to learn from high-level international techniques and tactics but will also comprehensively enhance the overall strength of Sarawak football.

He also emphasized that frequently hosting high-level events will help to make full use of the football infrastructure built by the government, thus promoting football development across the state.

"Perfect venue facilities and a good match atmosphere not only enhance the quality of the event but also attract more fans to watch and participate, pushing local football to a higher level."

He hopes that such events can strengthen cooperation between the government and various stakeholders to jointly create a more sustainable ecosystem for Sarawak football.

This match of the 2025 President's Cup Football Competition (Piala Presiden 2025) was held this afternoon at the Lutong Petroleum Recreation Club (KRP) field in Miri, where Kuching City FC-Miri hosted Penang FC II team.
