Someone in Hong Kong witnessed a “man with no upper body” at night. It turned out to be an elderly man lying in a roadside flower bed. From a distance, only his legs were visible, making the scene extremely scary. The netizen said, “I didn’t even know if he was alive or dead!” Eventually, paramedics arrived, helped the elderly man up, and took him away in an ambulance.

The netizen shared on Threads that on the night of December 9th, while walking to the bus stop in Cheung Sha Wan to take a bus home, he witnessed the incident: “I saw only a pair of legs sticking out from the flower bed, which almost scared me to death. Thankfully, an ambulance finally arrived and took the elderly man away.”

The video shows paramedics on the scene saying to the elderly man, “Let’s help you up, ok? Don’t lie here; can I help you up?” The elderly man tried to straighten his legs and get up but failed, so the paramedics had to pull him up.

Netizens commented in shock, “Drunk? Fainted? Dead?”, “Just looking at the photo is really scary, it looks like there’s no upper body”, “Really scared me, my heart skipped a beat.”

Some also wrote, “The problem of elderly people in Hong Kong is serious. Hope he’s safe, but it really was scary”, “It’s enough to scare anyone at night”, “Some elderly men really do drink from morning till night, especially in public housing estates where there are a whole bunch of them, drinking till they’re dizzy.”

One netizen shared, “Once I got drunk and fell into a bush, it took everything I had to get up, and I ended up covered in mud.” The original poster replied, “I don’t know if the elderly man was drunk, but he didn’t seem very alert and was very weak. He needed the paramedics to help him up.”

The original poster added, “The paramedics were very patient persuading the elderly man to get on the ambulance. The man said he didn’t have his ID card, so the paramedic told him to call his family to come pick him up, otherwise they’d ask the police to help. In the end, they lifted him onto a stretcher before putting him in the ambulance.” (News source: HK01)
