Golden Melody Award winner Khalil Fong passed away on February 21 last year at the age of 41. Close friend Jam Hsiao recently revealed in an interview that Fong's departure was a trauma he hadn't dared to face for a long time. For over a year, he couldn't listen to or sing the songs Fong had written for him. It wasn't until this May, during the Shenyang stop of his '2026 Wild Tour' concert, that he mustered the courage to raise the live backing vocals and perform Fong's 'Say A Lil Something' on stage, finding a new way to honor his late friend.
Jam Hsiao appeared on the web program 'Beyond the Heatwave 2026' for an interview with Chen Luyu, sharing that he still works hard to control his emotions in daily rehearsals. He screenshots and backs up their past conversations and voice recordings, fearing these precious memories could be lost over time or through technical issues. He candidly admitted that he still occasionally sends messages to Fong’s account—not only to express his longing but also in hopes that Khalil’s mother, who might check the account, feels his care and concern.
Recalling Fong’s last message before he passed, “Let’s meet again when I get better,” Jam Hsiao sighed that his friend always stayed strong so as not to burden those around him, praising him as warm and angelic. At the end of the interview, Jam Hsiao shared that his biggest lesson now is learning to cherish—to know clearly whom he loves and who loves him, and to treasure every moment in life wholeheartedly.
