Despite several government office holders unexpectedly losing in the People's Justice Party (PKR) division elections, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar emphasized that the party election is an internal affair, and any changes in party leadership are unrelated to government administration, thereby dismissing speculations of a possible Cabinet reshuffle.

He pointed out that the party election concerns the party leadership, and any questions or uncertainties can be raised through the party's internal channels.

“The party election is progressing smoothly; a special meeting of the Central Committee will be held this Wednesday to discuss (election disputes). But this is an internal party matter. It is unrelated to state or federal government. Everything is proceeding smoothly, everything as usual.”

Anwar, who is also the PKR chairman, stated that all considerations for Cabinet positions depend on each government executive’s performance, rather than political maneuvering.

Several ministers, deputy ministers, and MPs faced setbacks in the PKR division elections, attracting attention, including PKR Vice President and Minister of Natural Resources and Sustainable Environment, Nik Nazmi, who failed to retain the Setiawangsa division chief position, losing to actor and well-known director Afdlin.

The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Adam Adli, sought to defend the Hang Tuah Jaya division chief position but lost to Zainz Zainudin; PKR Strategy Director and Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Transition, Akmal, was defeated by Johor State Youth Chief Mohamad Daufi.
