(Miri, 12th) The Miri Cheong Clan Association will be holding the 2024 Annual Members and Members’ Children Academic Award Presentation Ceremony on November 23rd (Sunday) at 10 a.m. at the association premises (Address: Lot 1351, Pujut 2, Jalan Pujut 2c, Jalan Berlian, 98000 Miri, Sarawak). Applications for the scholarship are now open.
Eligible members’ children are requested to submit a copy of their 2024 academic transcript (including the 2023 Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM), the 2023 Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM), the 2024 Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) for Senior High, and a copy of their 2024 university diploma) to Deputy Chairman Cheong Chong Hua at KTS Trading S/B (Miri),

The eligibility and regulations for the Academic Excellence Award application are as follows:
1. Kindergarten Group (ages 4, 5, 6): All subjects must be graded A.
2. Primary School Group (Standards 1–6): Main subjects Chinese, Malay, English, Mathematics, and Science are assessed as follows:
First tier: All subjects A/T5 or above; Second tier: Three subjects A/T5 and the rest must be at least C/T3; Third tier: Two subjects A/T5 and the rest must be at least C/T3.
3. For secondary school in all streams, the Chinese, Malay, English, Mathematics, Science, and History subjects in mid-term and year-end exams must be passed with an average score of at least 75; or ranked 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, those with an average not less than 65 will receive an encouragement prize; conduct must be grade B or above.
4. Chinese Independent School UEC Senior Certificate: all five subjects must be passed, with at least four subjects graded A; Junior Certificate: all seven subjects must be passed, with at least five subjects graded A.
5. SPM (2023): those who achieve 8A’s will receive the first-tier award, those with 5A’s will receive the second-tier award; all-pass will be third-tier award.
6. STPM (2023): those whose main subjects are 2A and 2B will receive the first-tier award, those who pass all subjects will receive the second-tier award.
7. A Level (2023): those whose main subjects are 2A and 2B will receive the first-tier award; those who pass all subjects will receive the second-tier award.
8. For those who participate in both government public examinations and Chinese Independent School UEC (either senior or junior) in the same or different years, only one type of award may be applied for.
9. As standards for university/college results both domestic and overseas may vary, only the degree certificate (graduated in 2023 or 2024) needs to be attached.
10. Each awardee may receive only one scholarship per year.
