(Bandar Seri Begawan, 19th) Brunei Central Bank will begin the sale of a set of single-layer plated steel circulation commemorative coins starting April 22, 2025 (Tuesday). These commemorative coins will become legal tender in Brunei.
This set of commemorative coins has a face value of one cent, made of single-layer copper-plated steel, with a diameter of 17.78 millimeters (mm) and weighing approximately 1.78 grams (gm). The five-cent coin has a diameter of 16.31 millimeters and weighs approximately 1.69 grams, the ten-cent coin has a diameter of 19.41 millimeters and weighs approximately 2.83 grams, while the 20-cent and 50-cent coins have diameters of 23.60 millimeters and 27.76 millimeters respectively, with estimated weights of 5.65 grams and 9.33 grams.
All five-cent, ten-cent, 20-cent, and 50-cent coins are made of single-layer nickel-plated steel. This set of commemorative coins will be publicly available for purchase starting April 22.
Interested buyers can visit the BDCB Currency Gallery and Gift Shop on the first floor of the Ministry of Finance and Economy Complex (BCMB). Opening times are from Monday to Thursday, 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM and 2 PM to 4:30 PM, and on Fridays, from 8:30 AM to 11 AM only.
