In order to escape the hardships of real life, a man in Thailand deliberately committed theft and stole a gold ring, just so he could return to prison, as he believed life there was much easier.
According to Thai media outlet "The Thaiger," the 30-year-old man, Pakin, on September 11, stole a gold ring from a jewelry store on the third floor of a shopping center in downtown Udon Thani, and was caught red-handed by staff and security personnel.
According to the staff, the man entered the store and requested to try on a gold ring worth 28,000 baht (about 3,700 ringgit).
After putting on the ring, the man suddenly asked, "If I just walk out with the ring like this, will you catch me?"
The staff sternly replied, "Of course we will!" Shortly after, the man really did walk out of the store with the ring, and the staff immediately pursued him, snatched back the ring, and called the police.
The owner of another nearby gold shop also revealed that the man had visited his store earlier that day and asked the same strange question, but did not commit theft that time.

During police questioning, Pakin frankly admitted that he stole on purpose because he wanted to be sent back to prison.
Pakin revealed that he had previously been imprisoned for theft and found life in prison to be easier than the hardships outside.
He said he is married with a young daughter, and his wife is a good woman, but he feels exhausted and dissatisfied with life.
"I have failed in many aspects, and even my mother chose to leave her inheritance to my daughter rather than to me."
His mother once told him, "You have never achieved anything."
