(Jakarta, 7th) Faisal Abdullah Hassan Amoudi, the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Indonesia, ASEAN, and Timor-Leste, emphasized that cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in education, particularly at the university level, is of significant importance in deepening the relationship between the two countries.

"Cooperation in the academic field is crucial for strengthening the collaboration between the two countries," the ambassador stated during a meeting on Tuesday with Indonesian Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Brian Yuliatto, at the Saudi Embassy in Jakarta.

Amoudi noted that relations between the two countries have made significant progress across multiple fields and levels, and historically, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have maintained close and friendly relations.

The meeting at the embassy also invited presidents from 10 top Indonesian universities, where the ambassador expressed his hopes for continued deepening of collaboration in the field of education to foster closer development between the two countries.

"Educational cooperation between universities will provide a significant impetus for the relationship between the two countries and other mutually beneficial fields of cooperation," he stated.

"In the future, may God bless the educational cooperation between the two countries, enabling it to continuously improve and achieve remarkable development," he added.

He also pointed out that several cooperation proposals presented by the Indonesian minister during the meeting would be swiftly reviewed for prompt implementation.

Minister Yuliatto proposed collaboration content during the meeting, including joint research cooperation between Indonesian and Saudi universities, as well as cooperative research between professors from both countries.

Additionally, he suggested joint degree or dual degree program cooperation between Saudi and Indonesian higher education institutions.

"We also hope to promote a professor exchange program, allowing Saudi and Indonesian professors to visit each other for exchanges. Through joint and dual degree collaborations, our students will have the opportunity to grow under the joint guidance of professors from both countries," he said.

Yuliatto pointed out that the Indonesian government regards Indonesian and Saudi universities as being at a similar level in the international university rankings, thereby having an equal standing.

Based on this equality, he hopes that cooperation between higher education institutions in the two countries can proceed more smoothly, achieving mutual development and progress.
