(Kuching, 29th) – Twenty-four officers from the Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Unit (JSPT) have successfully completed a five-day intensive motorcycle escort course, aimed at enhancing the Royal Malaysia Police's ability to provide safe and efficient escort services for important persons during official events.
The 'VIP Motorcycle Escort Course' (MOTOKED) JSPT Sarawak Series 1/2026 was held from June 22 to 26, with participants including officers and personnel from the Traffic Motorcycle Patrol Unit (BSPT), JSPT, and the Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) division.
The course combined classroom instruction with field operation training, focusing on the special requirements of VIP escort missions.
Participants received advanced motorcycle handling training, convoy formation management, intersection control, operational communications, as well as specialized training in safety procedures required for high-level escort tasks.
To simulate real working environments, the field training routes covered major sections such as Kuching to Serian, Serian to Tebedu, Kuching to Bau, Kuching to Sematan, and Kuching to Santubong. Training was also conducted at Kuching International Airport and the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), which are commonly used locations for official arrivals and state events.
The course concluded successfully with a graduation ceremony officiated by Supt Bingkok John, Head of the Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Unit.
He stated that this training aims to enhance the operational readiness, professionalism, and technical capabilities of traffic officers responsible for escorting important persons, while also strengthening discipline, teamwork, and safety awareness to ensure smooth execution of every mission.
VIP motorcycle escorts play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and smooth passage of high-level government officials, visiting dignitaries, and other important persons. Especially in complex traffic environments, they require precise driving, quick decision-making, and close cooperation between multiple police units.
