(Sibu, 21st) Well-known Sibu businessman Datuk Lau Tiong Chuang passed away on the night of April 19th (Sunday) at the age of 75.
Lau Tiong Chuang previously served as President of the Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as Vice President of the Sarawak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In addition to his achievements in the business sector, he was also actively involved in politics, having served as Chairman of the Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP, later renamed the Progressive Democratic Party) Bawang Branch. After the reorganization of the party, he was appointed as Chairman of the party's Central Sarawak region.
Lau Tiong Chuang is also the father of Lau Tiong Yan, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Member of Parliament for Lanang.
