On the afternoon of the 9th, at the invitation to attend the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea, Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea.
Li Qiang stated that the Chinese party and government have always regarded China-DPRK relations from a strategic and long-term perspective. It is our unwavering policy to safeguard, consolidate, and develop the traditional friendship and cooperative relations between China and the DPRK. China is willing, together with the DPRK, to follow the joint guidance of the top leaders of both parties and countries, and to constantly promote new progress in bilateral relations.
Li Qiang pointed out that China is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges and strategic communication with the DPRK, further promote traditional friendship, deepen pragmatic cooperation, closely coordinate and collaborate in international and regional affairs, strengthen multilateral cooperation, firmly defend and practice multilateralism, and promote the international order toward a more just and reasonable direction.
Kim Jong-un stated that the DPRK-China relationship is unbreakable. No matter how the international situation changes, consolidating and developing the friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and China is the unwavering position of the DPRK party and government, which serves the common interests of both sides and is conducive to regional peace, stability, and development. He also pointed out that the DPRK firmly supports the One China principle, resolutely opposes any "Taiwan independence" separatist activities as well as any external interference, and supports China's positions on issues related to Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and Tibet. The DPRK is willing to maintain close high-level exchanges with China, promote cooperation in various fields, strengthen multilateral collaboration, advance their respective socialist causes, and bring more benefits to the peoples of both countries.
