The Royal Thai Navy issued a notification stating that a Thai cargo ship was attacked while sailing in the Strait of Hormuz on the 11th. Currently, 20 crew members have been rescued and sent to Oman for placement.
The notice pointed out that after receiving the report, the Royal Thai Navy immediately coordinated assistance. At present, the Oman Navy has rescued 20 Thai crew members and sent them to Khasab, Oman for accommodation. The relevant departments are continuing rescue efforts for the remaining 3 crew members.
The Royal Thai Navy stated that the cause of the attack is under investigation.
It is reported that the attacked vessel is the "Mayanaree" operated by Precious Shipping Company of Thailand. The vessel departed from Khalifa Port, UAE, in the early morning of the 11th local time and was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz at around 11 a.m.
The attack caused severe damage to the engine room at the stern and triggered a fire. The vessel ultimately lost control. Given the severe damage to the hull and to ensure the safety of the crew, the captain decided to abandon ship. #
