(Kuching, 6th) A total of 113 scouts from Kuching's 2nd, 4th, 5th, 16th, and 23rd scout troops participated in a joint camp held from the 5th to the 9th of this month at Kem Belia Pueh. They spontaneously launched a beach cleaning activity.
This camp was hosted by the 5th Kuching scout troop, with the 2nd, 4th, and 16th scout troops co-organizing.
Beach cleaning was arranged as a community service activity by the organizers, aimed at instilling a sense of environmental responsibility and the importance of protecting the natural environment among adolescents.
In a short time, the scouts collectively gathered as many as 133.5 kilograms of trash. It is believed that this trash was discarded or left behind by beach visitors or users lacking civic-mindedness.
The scout headquarters stated in a declaration that the active participation and outstanding performance of the scout members in this activity are true reflections of the scout spirit, which is to ‘do a good turn daily.’
