Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the government takes an uncompromising stance in cracking down on telecom fraud and other social crimes, and will lawfully remove related criminals from the country; any officials involved in illegal activities will be strictly held accountable according to the law.

According to the 'Khmer-China Times', Hun Manet, while presiding over an Interior Ministry meeting on the 5th, said that society is still facing multiple law and order challenges such as telecom fraud, drug crimes, and human trafficking. The government must maintain a high-intensity law enforcement posture and systematically advance corrective actions.

Hun Manet likened the campaign against telecom fraud to 'cleaning up the homeland', emphasizing that serious social crime offenders such as telecom fraudsters must be lawfully removed from the country to prevent Cambodia from being used as a base for transnational criminal activities, thus effectively safeguarding national security and social order.

Interior Ministry spokesman Touch Sokhak revealed in an exclusive interview with the 'Khmer-China Times' on the 4th that the nationwide 'large-scale eradication campaign' targeting telecom network fraud has been officially launched, with a clear goal set to complete the eradication task nationwide by the end of April this year at the latest.

Official data shows that since the beginning of 2026, Cambodia has investigated 190 locations suspected of telecom fraud activities and arrested 2,508 individuals involved. Under the ongoing high-pressure law enforcement situation, many scam sites have shut down voluntarily, and a total of 110,095 foreign nationals have left the country during this period.
