(Miri, 6th) Organized by Kulai District of Johor, and jointly hosted by the Kulai Department of Culture and the Kulai Long Yi Martial Arts Dragon and Lion Sports Association, the "2025 Kulai Cultural and Arts Festival 3.0" will be grandly held from May 9 to 11 at Kulai The Commune Mall. The event will gather diverse cultures and traditional skills, including Chinese martial arts, Malay martial arts, Indian martial arts, sanda performances, and the lion dance competition.
The Weisheng Sports Association's Dragon, Qilin, and Lion Troupe from Miri, Sarawak, has been invited to participate in this grand event and will represent Sarawak in the "2025 Malaysia-Singapore Traditional Lion Dance Competition." The competition has two categories: the primary school category and the open category, and is expected to attract many strong teams from Malaysia and Singapore to compete on the same stage.
Excitingly, the Hakka Green Lion under the Weisheng Sports Association has also been invited by the organizers to perform at the festival's opening ceremony, showcasing the traditional lion dance skills of Sarawak and kicking off the event with splendor.
Recently, the troupe paid a visit to Pujut Area State Assemblyman and Miri Mayor, Adam Yii, to brief him on the preparation progress of the competition. After listening to the report, Yii Xiao Shan encouraged the members to strive for excellence and bring honor to Miri. He personally presided over the flag presentation ceremony, sending off the competing team in an enthusiastic and moving scene.
The Weisheng Sports Association expressed their honor at being invited to participate and thanked the organizers for their recognition and trust, promising to do their best in the competition and promote traditional lion dance culture.
