In the first five months of this year, the number of 5G mobile phone users in China continued to grow, reaching nearly 1.1 billion.
According to China Central Television (CCTV), reporters learned from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on the 25th that in the first five months of this year, the telecommunications industry maintained stable operations. The total volume and revenue of telecom services continued to increase, while the construction and application of new infrastructure networks such as 5G and gigabit optical networks developed further.
Statistics show that in the first five months, the total telecommunications revenue reached 748.8 billion RMB (443.456 billion MYR), a year-on-year increase of 1.4%. The total volume of telecom services increased by 8.6% year-on-year.
By the end of May, the three major basic telecom enterprises had a total of 682 million fixed broadband internet access users. Among them, users with a fixed broadband internet access rate of 1000Mbps and above reached 223 million, accounting for 32.7% of the total, an increase of 1.8 percentage points from the end of last year. The number of 5G mobile phone users reached 1.098 billion, accounting for more than 60% of the total number of mobile phone users.
As of the end of May, the total number of 5G base stations in China reached 4.486 million, accounting for 35.3% of all mobile base stations. Mobile internet data usage continued its rapid rise. In the first five months, the total mobile internet data usage reached 153.7 billion GB, a year-on-year increase of 16.2%.
