Kelantan's Meranti State Assemblyman Wan Rosimi questioned the purpose of Kelantan police's revelation regarding the rise in drug crimes and minor rape cases in the state. Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Dato' Sri Nancy Shukri, suggested that the state assemblyman request data from the police, as the police are the ones executing tasks and aware of the actual situation.

Earlier, Kelantan State Police Chief Dato' Mohamad Yusof revealed in an interview with 'Daily News' that the state has seen an upward trend in cases of rape and incest involving minors, with police statistics showing multiple cases involving underage pregnancies, including a 10-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy having sexual relations.

Subsequently, Wan Rosimi, while delivering a debate speech in the Kelantan State Assembly, questioned whether the police were trying to affect the state's image with such revelations.

Nancy expressed her views on this matter today (25th) after attending a monthly gathering at the department.

She said: "If (Wan Rosimi) wants evidence, he can request it from the police, as our (department's) request for data is also dependent on the police to provide.

"Sometimes, state assemblymen are not fully aware of the situation and need the police to provide accurate data, especially from the task-executing units, so everyone should cooperate with them."

Earlier, during a speech, Nancy mentioned that the natural gas pipeline explosion incident at Putra Heights tested the department's efficiency, and she expressed pride in the rapid response from the social welfare department, national welfare foundation, and national family development bureau.

"Setting up two temporary evacuation centers in a short time, with 20 volunteers and 13 psychological counseling officers to provide food and psychological support for over 600 victims, proved our capability in crisis times."

In a later press conference, Nancy further elaborated that the officers at the temporary evacuation centers received various requests from the victims.

She cited examples of victims needing mobile phones, money to visit parents in other hospitals, female products, and expectant mothers ready to deliver.

"Children with autism needed air purifiers, and upon evaluation, we found these requests legitimate and we met their needs."

She stated that the service efficiency of the officers made her feel proud.
