(Kuching, 23rd) The Sarawak government should consider providing flexibility for adult students, enabling them to continue their studies in part-time mode and benefit from a free higher education policy.
Sarawak MP for Meluan, Roland Duat Jubin, stated that this move aims to offer Sarawak citizens with 'K' status the opportunity to pursue education while working.
"As a former educator, I have always been passionate about education, and I highly appreciate this initiative."
"This not only benefits individuals but also enhances the overall quality of Sarawak's workforce, making it an economic powerhouse in Malaysia and the region."
He made these remarks on Thursday during the Sarawak Legislative Assembly meeting, while expressing gratitude for the policy speech by Sarawak Head of State, Tun Wung Juandi.
Additionally, Roland suggested offering short-term courses through accredited institutions or online platforms, in fields such as Coding, to enhance the skills of Sarawak workers and add value for them.
Last Sunday, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari announced that the state government would provide free full-time higher education for Sarawak citizens, including those who were unable to continue their studies due to various reasons.
