Appointment of Collection Companies Does Not Affect MyJPJ System; Ministry of Transport Plans to Establish Heavy Vehicle Driver Database

Deputy Minister of Transport, Datuk Hasbi, pointed out that appointing companies as agents to collect fees for certain transport matters will not affect or take over the MyJPJ system.

He explained that the appointed companies are merely designated collectors on behalf of the government, just like other institutions authorized to collect specific fees.

“They are only collecting payments on behalf of the government and have nothing to do with MyJPJ... There is no access, they will not be replaced, and MyJPJ will not be taken over by Rider Gate.”

He said this in the Senate while answering a question from Datuk Huang Qingxing.

Hasbi mentioned that the Road Transport Department has implemented various digital processes through the MyJPJ application, including license expiry reminders, renewal services, and payments, in order to enhance transparency and reduce the risk of human error.

Regarding Senator Datuk Sallehuddin’s question about using advanced technology to strengthen traffic law enforcement, he said that in addition to the continued implementation of the Automated Enforcement System (AES) and a proposal to use High-Speed Weigh-In-Motion (HSWIM) to detect overloading violations, the authorities are also using body cameras to improve integrity and transparency in enforcement.

In addition, he stated that the Ministry of Transport also plans to establish a heavy vehicle driver database to ensure that only drivers who meet safety standards can be employed by operating companies.

Responding to public concerns over the procurement costs of modern technology such as body cameras, each costing RM23,000, Hasbi said that as safety equipment becomes more common, market prices are expected to drop.
