(Kuching, 22nd) The "Sarawakku Sayang" (SKS) 2026 event kicked off in Limbang Division and is regarded as a significant initiative aimed at cultivating a spirit of love for Sarawak among the public, serving as the foundation for maintaining stability and harmony within the state.
Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki stated that the downfall of a nation often stems from internal problems; therefore, the SKS event is an essential effort to strengthen unity and prevent similar occurrences.
"Thank the Almighty, the SKS we implemented in Limbang has successfully inspired the public's love for Sarawak and allowed people to better understand various services offered by the government. The lesson from SKS is that, as Sarawakians, we must love and care for each other. We need to safeguard harmony, avoid conflicts among ourselves, and express our love for this land through real actions.
"The stability, rights, and harmony we enjoy today must be protected. Therefore, the slogan 'Safeguarding Sarawak is our responsibility' should be a shared commitment of all citizens. We cannot overly depend on external forces," he said.
He made these remarks yesterday during a special interview with Voice of Sarawak held at Malaysia's Father of the Nation Building.
He also emphasized that although many public services are now digitized, humanized face-to-face services are still indispensable.
"Sometimes, the public wants to come in person because certain information cannot be adequately conveyed through digital platforms. For instance, when citizens with excellent academic results come to the counter, we guide them on how to apply for financial aid from the Sarawak Foundation and help them choose suitable courses."
"After obtaining this information, they feel more assured and no longer confused," he pointed out.
The "Sarawakku Sayang" campaign will next be held from April 24 to 26 at the Miri Outdoor Stadium, with Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari officiating at the opening on April 25.
This event is expected to attract about 20,000 participants, an increase from the previous attendance of around 16,000 people in Limbang, indicating an enthusiastic response to the campaign.
Earlier, the Sarawak Premier officiated the SKS launching ceremony in Limbang on April 11. The event was held from April 10 to 12 and received active participation from local residents.
The "Sarawakku Sayang" initiative is a continuous effort by the Sarawak government to reinforce a "ground-up" approach in governance, getting closer to the people to ensure that government services can be implemented at the grassroots more efficiently, comprehensively, and effectively.
