The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) delegations held talks in Cairo on the 23rd to discuss post-war arrangements for the Gaza Strip.

According to a report from Egypt’s Cairo News TV on the 23rd, Xinhua News Agency said that Egypt is hosting talks between various Palestinian factions, aiming to help the Palestinian side reach an internal consensus on the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Egypt’s General Intelligence Directorate Chief Hassan Rashad met with senior officials from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and other major factions.

In addition, Egypt plans to host an international conference on the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip in late November.

After much mediation, the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement came into effect on the 10th. The agreement includes a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, exchange of detainees, delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and partial withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.
