(Jakarta, 14th) – A delegation from the Princess Maha Chakri Award Foundation (PMCAF) of Thailand recently visited Jakarta to honor Indonesian educators who have received the Princess Maha Chakri Award (PMCA), highlighting the crucial role teachers play in shaping students’ lives.

Dr. Krissanapong Kirtikara, Chairperson of the Foundation, pointed out that the award is a high recognition of teachers’ contributions and influence, underscoring their significant status in students’ development.

The delegation visited Indonesia from January 11th to 14th, during which they called on officials from Indonesia’s Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and met with the 2025 Indonesian award recipient, special education teacher Adiputri Sawenda from Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.

Dr. Krissanapong stated that the Princess Maha Chakri Award not only acknowledges personal achievements of teachers, but also, through the “Friends of Thailand” network, fosters ongoing cooperation between recipients, the Royal Thai Embassy, and the Foundation.

Foundation member Benjarun Phan highlighted that teachers play an essential role in giving hope and happiness in students’ lives. Their influence can be clearly felt through students’ eyes and actions, and teachers’ efforts rightfully deserve recognition from society.

The Princess Maha Chakri Award is presented biennially to honor outstanding teachers from 11 ASEAN countries, as well as Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Mongolia, acknowledging their lasting impact on students and contributions to the field of education.

Adiputri Sawenda has more than 15 years of experience in special education and currently teaches at the National Special School (SLBN) in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, where she is committed to providing meaningful, enjoyable, and functional learning experiences for students with various special needs.
