According to a report by China News Service, the Kremlin website released a message on the 28th stating that based on the Russian President's decision and for humanitarian reasons, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Russian side announced a ceasefire from 0:00 on May 8 to 0:00 on May 11. During this period, all military actions will be halted.
The Russian side believes that Ukraine should emulate this move. If the Ukrainian side violates the ceasefire agreement, the Russian Armed Forces will respond appropriately and effectively.
The message also states that the Russian side reaffirms its willingness to conduct unconditional peace talks to eliminate the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis and engage in constructive cooperation with international partners.
On the same day, Putin issued a written statement thanking the North Korean soldiers who assisted the Russian military in reclaiming the Russian Kursk region. In the statement, Putin mentioned that on the 26th, Russian Armed Forces completely defeated the Ukrainian armed forces in the Kursk region. The Korean People's Army units actively participated in the operation, in accordance with the provisions and spirit of the Russia-North Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty.
