(Kuching, 18th) The Supreme Council (MKT) lineup of Sarawak Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) for the term 2025 to 2028 showcases a solid combination of seasoned leaders and high-potential young talents.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg stated that this move reflects PBB's effort to broaden youth participation by amending the party's constitution to strengthen its reserve leadership team.
“Therefore, we must nurture our leaders, especially amidst numerous new governmental and socio-economic challenges. We need leaders who are experienced and knowledgeable, guiding us from political and socio-economic perspectives to continue our struggle. Let’s not forget, we are in the transition period towards a new economy and era, including developments in artificial intelligence (AI).”
He expressed this during a press conference yesterday, held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) after attending a meeting on the eve of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly meeting chaired by the Sarawak PBB Supreme Council.
Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari added that the combination of experienced senior leadership with tech-savvy young leaders is expected to further enhance PBB's competitive edge and strategic direction.
He used the Singapore election as a reference, particularly emphasizing the use of artificial intelligence (AI), especially deep fakes that could be used to create slander and misinformation. Therefore, we must foresee the future landscape brought by advanced technologies, and we must be able to manage and adapt to emerging new situations. Hence, the PBB leadership must include both new and old leaders to achieve integration during the transition period towards the future because PBB must always maintain its relevance with the times.
Attendees included Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah, Speaker of the House of Representatives Datuk Awang Bimie, Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia, Sarawak and Federal Ministers and Deputy Ministers of the Cabinet, and Sarawak Legislative Assembly members.
