Thailand organized diplomats from 11 countries stationed in Thailand, military attachés from 23 countries, as well as representatives of several foreign media based in Thailand, to visit Ubon Ratchathani and Si Sa Ket provinces along the Thai-Cambodian border on the 1st, to inspect the situation following the Thai-Cambodian border conflict.
At the scene, the delegation listened to the Thai side's briefing on the border situation and conducted an on-site assessment of the impact of the conflict on Thai civilians. The Thai military specifically clarified issues concerning the 20 Cambodian soldiers detained by Thailand during the conflict.
The Thai military said that on August 1, two Cambodian soldiers had already been repatriated, and the Thai side will continue to take good care of the remaining detained personnel in accordance with human rights principles. Meanwhile, the Thai military also presented its position regarding the recent visit organized by Cambodia for foreign military attachés stationed in Cambodia to inspect the Chong An Ma area.
The Thai military pointed out that the area in question is Thai territory. The Cambodian side occupied this area and built houses to accommodate personnel, actions which the Thai side says distort the facts and violate international law.
On July 30, the Cambodian side organized military attachés from 13 countries stationed in Cambodia to inspect the Ansae border checkpoint in Preah Vihear Province, Cambodia.
