The Iran Persian Gulf Strait Authority issued a notice on social media on the 26th, stating that all vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz must follow the designated routes and procedures. Ships that deviate from the specified route without authorization will not be guaranteed safety or related insurance coverage.
The notice stated that all consequences arising from unauthorized deviation from the designated route will be borne by the ship owner, operator, and captain.
Previously, on the 19th, the Iranian side issued a notice that within the time frame stipulated in the memorandum of understanding, vessels that submit transit applications to the Persian Gulf Strait Authority as required will have their transit arrangements processed promptly. The relevant requirements include: applications must be submitted at least 48 hours before entering the strait area; applications must be submitted via the authority’s website or email; and route and transit period coordination must be done in advance according to the announced time.
Cargo Ship Attacked in Waters Near Oman
The UK Maritime Trade Operations Office issued a report on the 25th stating that a cargo ship was attacked in waters near Oman that day, resulting in damage to the bridge but no casualties.
The report said a cargo ship was hit by an unidentified projectile about 7.5 nautical miles southeast of Oman’s Duqm, damaging its starboard bridge. The incident caused no casualties and did not impact the marine environment.
